Guidelines

The Ukulele Contest ~4ALL~ Entry Requirements

Videos and photos submitted for this contest may be used as the following; links in related websites; video or audio samples in other media; distribution material or merchandise.

Thus, prior to participating in this contest, please be aware of the possibility of secondary use of submitted contents, and please understand that this is for the purpose of promoting the ukulele music culture.

<Important Notices>

  • Be sure to include the hashtag #Ukulele4ALL in the captions of your submitted photos or videos.
  • Please put into consideration YouTube’s Terms of Service regarding copyrights for the material (such as photos and music) used in your contents. 
  • Any content that is deemed contrary to public order and morals will automatically be disqualified.
  • Parental consent for minors (anyone under 20 years old) will be required for any classes or clubs with minors participating in their group.
  • Minors must apply with parent’s permission, and are required to fill in the following information:
    • Name of legal guardian (full name)
    • Address, phone number, e-mail address

※Minors who wish to apply will receive an e-mail or form in which a legal guardian must reply, saying they approve of the terms and agreements for the contest, and that they approve of their child’s entry.


<Technique Department Entry Requirements>

  1. Name of applicant (or representative of duo)
  2. Stage name/ name of duo, or pseudonym that can be used on the official website
  3. Category: Instrumental, Performance with singing, U-15 (junior high schooler or under)
    ※Number of applicants: Solo (1 person) or as a duo (2 people).
  4. List of performer(s)
    • Full name, age, gender, part (instrument).
    • For duos, write the name of the representative’s name first.
    • The co representative’s name should come next.
    • Reachable contacts (address including area code, phone number, and e-mail address) for both the representative and co representative.
  5. Song Title
    • Make sure to clarify whether your video is an original piece, cover, or original arrangements of a pre-existing song.
      1. For original music, please include the lyric writer and/or composer.
      2. Original music should be property of the applying individual/group.
      3. Please include the artist’s name for covers of songs.
      4. For any covers with any original arrangements, please state that you have incorporated some original arrangements to the song.
  6. Introduction of yourself or your duo (within 100 words)

  7. Photo(s) of applicant(s) (dimension for the photo is specified)
  8. YouTube URL of submitted video
    • The title of your submitted video should be in the following format: 【Ukulele4ALL】TITLE by STAGENAME/ NAME OF DUO
    • Include the hashtag “#Ukulele4ALL” in the captions for your video

Instructions for taking a video

  • Your video must be no longer than 3 minutes and 0 seconds.
  • Only one video per individual participant/ duo can be submitted.
    ※Any participant caught submitting more than one video, entering in both the “instrumental” and “performances with singing” categories, or entering the contest in multiple groups will be disqualified.
  • A medley/mashup will be considered as one song.
  • Please make sure your camera is stable when recording your video.
  • Please take a video that is easy to watch, so that the evaluation of your performance can be done smoothly.
  • There is no need for video editing (zooms, special effects, cuts, etc.)

<Performance Department Entry Requirements>

  1. Name of applicant (or representative of group)
  2. Stage name/ name of group, or pseudonym that can be used on the official website
  3. Category: solo or group
    ※We recommend applying with a school, circle, or club if you wish to participate as a group.
  4. List of performer(s)
    • Full name, age, gender, part (instrument)
    • Reachable contacts (address including area code, phone number, and e-mail address) for both the representative and co representative
  5. Song title
    • Make sure to clarify whether your video is an original piece, cover, or original arrangements of a pre-existing song.
      1. For original music, please include the lyric writer and/or composer.
      2. Original music should be property of the applying individual/group.
      3. Please include the artist’s name for covers of songs.
      4. For any covers with any original arrangements, please state that you have incorporated some original arrangements to the song.

Instructions for taking a video

  • Your video must be no longer than 3 minutes and 0 seconds.
  • Submitting more than one video per individual participant/ duo is accepted. There are no limits of submitting videos in Performance department.
  • A medley/mashup will be considered as one song.
  • Please make sure your camera is stable when recording your video.
  • Please take a video that is easy to watch, so that the evaluation of your performance can be done smoothly.
  • There is no need for video editing (zooms, special effects, cuts, etc.)

<Commercial Department Entry Requirements>

  1. Name(s) of applicant(s) (or representative of group)
  2. Pen name/ name of group, or pseudonym that can be used on the official website
  3. List of performer(s)
    • Full name, age, and gender
    • Reachable contacts (address including area code, phone number, and e-mail address) for both the representative and co representative
  4. Name of commercial
  5. Introduction of yourself or your duo (within 100 words)
  6. Photo(s) of applicant(s) (dimension for the photo is specified)
  7. YouTube URL of submitted video
    • The title of your submitted video should be in the following format: 【Ukulele4ALL】TITLE by PEN NAME / NAME OF GROUP
    • Include the hashtag “#Ukulele4ALL” in the captions for your video

Instructions for taking a video

  • You are not required to be playing a ukulele in the commercial, as long as you promote ukuleles.
  • Your video must be no longer than 30 seconds.
  • Only one commercial per individual can be submitted
  • Edit your video if necessary (multiple camera angles, zooms, special effects, cuts, etc.)

<Photo Department Entry Requirements>

  1. Name of applicant
    • Full name, age, gender
    • Reachable contacts (address including area code, phone number, and e-mail address)
  2. Pen name or pseudonym that can be used on the official website
  3. Title of photo
  4. Introduction of yourself or photo (within 100 words)
  5. Photo of applicant (dimensions for the photo is specified)
  6. URL of submitted photo on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook
    • Include the hashtag “#Ukulele4ALL” in the captions of your photo.

Instructions for taking a photo

  • Your photo must be related to the theme “Ukulele and …”.
  • Photos that do not include ukuleles in them will be disqualified.
  • You may submit up to 3 photos.
  • Editing, such as retouching or collaging, your photo is permitted.
